SAY HELLO TO YOUR NEXT PHONE!

I was invited to cover the Samsung Unpacked 2015 event yesterday at Solaire for Smart. The event featured the launch and livestream of the Mobile World Congress Unpacked 2015 event in Barcelona, Spain. There was also a preview of the devices from our friends from Samsung Philippines.
Samsung introduced two flagship models this year: the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The two are quite similar in power and features except for the added sexy curve design of the Galaxy S6 Edge on its side panels.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 in White Pearl
The biggest difference of this year's iteration is the design. Samsung S6 no longer sports the plasticky feel of its predecessors. Samsung learned its lesson and went gung-ho and finished the S6 with a glass and metal feel similar to its competitors. The result is simply outstanding. It now feels like how a flagship smartphone should feel like. Samsung truly made the design a big priority this year.
Battery life and charging are now deal breakers. A smartphone is only good if it provides a very good and sustainable battery life. Samsung is claiming that their new flagships will not only charge fast but will also charge wirelessly. This is a definite game changer for people who cannot live without their smartphones. They are also claiming that a charge can last up to 11 hours on LTE and 12 hours on WiFi.
The lightness of the device overwhelmed me. It's very thin and delicate; and I was actually afraid to hold it for fear of dropping it. It was designed beautifully and elegantly. The Gold Platinum color is a winner. It's definitely better that iPhone 6's Gold version.

Here's a quick run-down of the other specs. I featured and tweeted some of it at the live tweet/coverage of the event via @SmartCares.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is 5.1-inch and is between iPhone 6's 4.7-inch and iPhone 6 Plus' 5.5-inch displays. The days of small screens are definitely over.

A lot were said about the improved camera of the S6 but one of the most notable moments of the presentation was when shots were fired against Apple and their camera. A comparison of the output of the iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S6 was shown in the livestream. Check it out!
iPhone 6 Plus vs. Galaxy S6 Image Comparison
I am user of both iPhone and Samsung and I must say that it's matter of color/saturation preference. Samsung images are very vivid and nice to look at but they have the tendency to get pixelated when uploaded online (eg. in Instagram). iPhone images are more steady and can be easily filtered or post-processed. Nevertheless - I am super excited to try these new cameras of Samsung.
Aside from the features mentioned, the S6 and S6 Edge also runs on Adroid 5.0 (Lollipop), uses a NanoSIM, and has 32GB, 64GB and 128GB versions. It will no longer have an expandable memory but Samsung will throw in 100GB of MS One Drive subscription for two years in lieu of this.
The colors of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are gem-inspired. It comes in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (for the S6 only), and Green Emerald (for the S6 Edge only).

The S6 Edge
I am no longer the loyal Apple Fan Girl that I used to be. I've been using Samsungs through the years and I really really love the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that I am currently using for my Sun Cellular line. I must say that it was truly love at first sight when Digs Dimagiba of Samsung showed to us the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in Gold Platinum. The design is amazing! It was truly one helluva smartphone (and I am honestly running out of adjectives to describe how great it is).

Is it worth the upgrade?
A definite and solid yes. Sell your S5 if you can and upgrade to this beauty. The design is outstanding and is worth every penny. Any Samsung lover will definitely love and appreciate these new flagships from Samsung. This is, by far, the best product that came out from the Korean company. I will personally get the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in a heartbeat IF not for my (still new) 4-month old Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The Global Launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is on April 10 and the Philippine and SMART launch is on April 18. You should get it from Smart Postpaid or Smart Infinity (of course!). Smart still offers the best postpaid data plans with bigger data allowance among competition. Stay tuned!
