TRAVEL TO CEBU

Wednesday, April 08, 2015

I haven't traveled since May 2014. The farthest I've been in the last 10 months was Cavite. I was a homebody in the last few months.

Anyway....I traveled to Cebu two Thursdays ago for work. I attended Smart's Regional Summit for VisMin, had some meetings, and ate A LOT of Cebu delights!

But, first, here's a cloud shot! Yeah - I am joining the bandwagon of that famous incident involving planes, clouds, and airline seats.

Clouds

The flight was on time but we were kept on ground for quite a while because of air traffic congestion. I arrived in Cebu around 6:00 pm and was greeted by a huge amount of traffic. I checked-in quickly at Marco Polo Cebu and rushed with Chrissy to Cafe Georg to meet for dinner the officers of Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc.

Cafe Georg is a nice contemporary restaurant in Banilad with a very full and expansive menu. There are so many nice dishes to choose from! I ended ordering some Chicken Pot Pie (Php 250.00) - it was really good, hearty, and filling. It is made of chicken, sausage, mushroom, and carrots with creamy white sauce. We also ordered Kahlua Chocolate Mousse (Php 110.00) which is made of dark chocolate mousse with Kahlua. Cafe Georg is definitely a must-try!

I am very happy to formally meet the board of directors and officers of Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. We've been working on this partnership for quite a while and we finally sealed the deal with them Smart is now the Official Telco Partner of Cebu's premiere blogging group. Yay!

Cebu 2015

I spent most of Friday at the Smart VisMin Regional Summit at Radisson Blu Hotel (what a huge hotel lobby). I went back to Marco Polo after the event to catch up on e-mails and work while having one of the most recommended Chocolate Chip Cookies in Cebu: the Malicious Cookies! This was recommended to me by Sinjin and Jude. It's super yummy...and heavenly! A must-order when you're in Marco Polo Cebu.

I met blogger friends Sinjin and Melo for dinner at Zubuchon in Escario St. I am not a fan on Zubuchon Lechon (I rather have Rico's, CNT, or Ayer) but I recommend all the other dishes in Zubuchon that we had. The three of us had a small Cebu feast!

Cebu 2015
The Famous Zubuchon (Boneless) Lechon
This is Pork Belly roasted Zubuchon-style (Small - Php 240.00)

Zubuchon Sinigang
This sinigang dish looks very simple and ordinary but I love this! It reminds me of my Papa's Sinigang. This is my favorite among all the things we ordered. This is Pork Sinigang (Php 240.00) but they also have Lechon Sinigang (Php 280.00)

Cebu 2015
Slow-Cooked Adobo
Premium pork belly cooked in a clay-pot over charcoals for 3 hours (Php 250.00)

Cebu 2015
Zubuchon Dinuguan
This is pure Zubuchon meat, no innards (Php 200.00). I wasn't able to taste this. Sayang!

Zubuchon's Pinakbet
We also ordered Pinakbet to counter all the cholesterol-laden food we had!

Zubuchon has 5 branches in Cebu plus a very popular Zubuchon stall at the Departure Area of Mactan-Cebu International Airport. I also bought a kilo of cooked lechon  on my way home for the fiance.

  1. Travel to Cebu is more fun when you get to visit famous tourist spots. There are so many wonderful places to go to in Cebu. You can try Kawasan Falls, Oslob, Ibiza Resort, and so on. Transportation is not much of a problem. You can even rent at book2wheel.com a motorbike or scooter to tour yourself around and get to know locals in Cebu.
